Lodge Resort Blog

Hard to believe we’re heading into the end of January already…. Loon has opened their first double black diamond slope (Ripsaw). It looks pretty steep from the video on Loon’s website. We see skiers coming down the slopes right behind our Lodge all day enjoying the fantastic conditions. We’ve had quite a lot of snow and just introduced a brand new ski package combining Loon and Waterville Valley Ski Areas. We’re also offering a Winter Madness Special: Stay 2 nights, get your 3rd night FREE! Check out our packages and specials page for more info. Also, make sure you sign up on our website home page to receive email notification of new deals as soon as they are available! See you soon!

If you like winter, you’re in luck! We’ve gotten 6 inches of nice, fluffy snow overnight. It’s still snowing now, and we expect another 7-12 inches tomorrow!!! All just in time for the Christmas vacation. We do still have suites available, so it’s not too late to make your reservation. Ask us about our ski packages, or check out our package page for more information. The shuttle bus is running right from our parking lot to Loon Mountain – 4 times each hour.

Gorgeous Foliage

It looks like we are just about at peak foliage here in Lincoln. The color is spectacular! I took this picture yesterday from the balcony of one of our units. We have a few rooms left for this weekend. The weather looks to be cool, but sunny – basically perfect for this time of year. So come on up: take a drive, a hike, go biking, go to a fair, pick some apples, take a zipline tour – there’s lots to do!

Highland Games Update

What a great weekend for the Games! I went up yesterday afternoon to check it out and took a few pictures to share. There were quite a few people, although there will be MANY more today. There was a good sized vending area where you could purchase anything from jewelry, t-shirts, kilts, hats and scarves to food and beverages and CDs and DVDs. There were always several bands playing – some indoors and some outdoors. I watched a little of the sheep dog trials and a highland dance demonstration. The bus system was very well organized and surprisingly quick and easy! The weather is absolutely gorgeous and today and tomorrow promise to be just as nice. If you have the time – it will be worth the trip!

Highland Games!

We are all so excited for Highland Games Weekend! The weather is really looking great and we are expecting a full house. One extra benefit for our guests will be the shuttle bus (to the games) picking up right at the end of our driveway. The leaves are just starting to turn, and it could not be more beautiful in these parts. If you get a chance to visit us in the next few weeks, you will NOT be disappointed! See you soon!

End of Summer???

Well, I guess it is the end of the summer season! Hard to believe we will be skiing on those trails behind us before long. The weather forecast is for sun all week with warm temperatures too! Can’t really beat that. It’s so nice that our staff is keeping the outdoor pool open for at least another week. There’s lots to do this weekend, then things will quiet down for a bit. If you’re looking for some R&R, or maybe some outdoor adventure, COME SEE US!

Six Gun City

Well, the rain finally stopped so we took a trip up north to Six Gun City. I had not been there in many years and was looking forward to the new additions. It is pretty different from most of the other “parks” in the area. It was not impeccably kept up, but I’m pretty sure that is by design. It looks like an old western town with dirt roads and overgrown areas. My son was happy to play mini golf (included in admission price) as soon as we arrived. They had several rides that he could go on by himself which thrilled him to no end! We rode the roller coaster several times, the go-carts, log cars (see picture), stagecoach and the log paddle boats. Then we changed into our bathing suits and hit the water rides. They have a “kiddie” waterslide that Zach and I were able to go down together. It’s larger than the usual kiddie slides, so it was pretty fun. My son then was able to go by himself. Next we rode the bumper boats and then our favorite ride – the Prospector’s Plunge Water Coaster! We rode together in a rubber boat down an enclosed waterslide in the pitch black. We must have done that 4 or 5 times. This park is not as big as some of the others (StoryLand, Santa’s Village), but it offered a whole different feel, almost no lines at all, and was every bit as fun!

Lost River

How about all this rain??!! Well, we decided to brave the rain and head to Lost River Gorge and Boulder Caves. The sun actually came out for a little bit while we were there! As you head down into the Gorge, you descend several sets of steep stairs until you reach the river at the bottom. There are wooden walkways to guide you along the river and to the caves. There were a couple of caves that were not accessible due to the high water (see picture). We did go through all that were open with the exception of the Lemon Squeezer (I was a chicken). We then viewed a beautiful waterfall and calm trout pool. Next we walked through a covered bridge and up the nature path back to the gift shop. Zachary (my son) then mined for shark’s teeth (very cool for a 4 year old)! We had an ice cream snack on the deck before heading home. We do manage to fit ice cream into every trip!! It was fairly crowded even though the weather wasn’t great - we had a great time anyway!

August Already??

Could it really be August 1st already??!! This is a shot of one end of our Main Street in downtown Lincoln. The mountains really make a gorgeous backdrop. There’s still time to grab your family and head our way. We can keep you busy for just a few days or all week! We just launched a radio ad with our friends at WFNX in Boston, so if you hear it, give us a call and let us know! We’ll give you an extra discount if you can tell us what package we mentioned in the ad!
